Path MEGAzine's Kris Patrick speaks with Al Mac Will about the new Gospel genre "Urban Country Gospel." As the pioneer of the genre, Al Mac Will has a very unique voice. Take a listen!

Biography: Self contained writer, producer, artist and songstress, Al Mac Will is destined to do God’s will for her life; through a new music genre that is tearing down walls: Urban Country Gospel; a music which transcends R&B, Country, Gospel and Pop to create a riveting blend of lyrics and rhythm.  Her premiere release also entitled, “Tearing Down the Walls,” is where mind, body and spirit become one.

Passion, inspiration, triumph, tribulation, and rejuvenation brilliantly intertwine to create a summer debut release that has been described as Technicolor on airwaves. Her songs illustrate the testimonies in life clearly dispelling the shades of gray and evoking clear, concise and colorful messages…. just like the beauty of Technicolor.

Al Mac Will (AKA Alice McAfee Williams), who is known to rejuvenate and rivet people with her vibrant persona is quick to note her blessings of wisdom, victory and discernment are a divine talent completely God given.

Hailing from a tight-knit and highly principled family in Eau Claire (meaning clear-water), Michigan, Mac Will grew up in a wholesome household where Mom and Dad were the dominant positive influence and music and ministry filled the house.   Mac Will once stated, “If there was ever a black Leave It to Beaver family, we were the black Cleavers.” “If there was anything like an American dream, I lived it.”

From New York to Los Angeles she has had an illustrious career which includes singing with the “Father of Gospel,” The Late Rev. James Cleveland with the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Charles Mays, and opening for the Great Dorothy Norwood and the Williams Brothers, as well as, singing with The Rickey Grundy Chorale. Mac Will also had the longest song on the first project with Sparrow Records entitled, “Lead Me.” Mac Will went on to perform on the People’s Choice Awards and worked with the (late) Redd Foxx Productions.

Al Mac Will has ministered " Word and Music" to thousands doing songs with life changing messages. The Target Center for the National Baptist Convention, The Potter's House in Dallas, Texas and most recently, to a packed house at the FORUM in Inglewood, California for Faithful Central Bible Church to name a few. Hundreds testify of hope, restoration and changed marriages as a direct result of the instructions in the first single "Stand still."

Al Mac Wil,  is married and a mother of 2, left the music industry to regroup and explore her opportunities in the Garment Industry. 10 years later, after her bout with death, the Lord began to unfold His plan for her musical journey.  God did not just show her how to take her passage of life and put it to music, He gave her the revelation to lead and develop the next territory for His message to be told…. Urban Country Gospel.

Although Al Mac Will  wasn’t sure at first how her identity of music would be understood, she did know she was on a mission to galvanize the souls of others. She has delightfully orchestrated the best of R&B, Country, Gospel and Pop to create a whole new sound to the music industry. Al Mac Will ‘s music was further validated by 12 time Grammy award winner and songwriter, Stevie Wonder, who encouraged Will to continue her music after listening to her songs.

In Al Mac Will’s title song, “Stand Still,” she speaks from the lyrics which serve her best, her own first hand experience of trials she faced as a trouble marriage about to end was resurrected by God.  “Stand Still,is a personal story in which the Lord cried out to a tired and disgusted wife after years of trials and tribulations in her marriage. It speaks of how to listen to God in facing a heartache and how to come out victorious when you follow the Lord’s instructions.

Al Mac Will has written 300+ songs and developed Urban Country Gospel by incorporating country gospel’s traditional song structure with impassioned vocals and harmonies.  The urban contemporary feel of the music emulates from modern themes, melodic pop sensibilities and arrangements.  Al Mac Will is inspired from old-time country fiddler Brantley Kearns and pedal steel player Chris Lawrence. Her final creation from sacred to secular, is goose bump therapy, sweat breaking, inspiring, mood elevation rejuvenation and ministry mixed together all packaged in one CD.  The tearful moving spirit of Urban Country Gospel is like Chicken Soup for the Soul.
