The Blessing of Release: From Shur to Beersheba By Calvin J Walker We are living in a time where a person’s independence is their most valued possession. The mindset that, “I am my own,” is contrary to the submission needed in order to really walk in the order of God. Your gifts and your call can only be effective when they are submitted to a covering. Many times people do their best to disregard the order and the hierarchy of authority that God has established in His church (Eph 4:11). This renegade way of thinking is causing ministries all across the nation to flounder because they were not properly released. In the bible, there is a story about a man named Abram, his wife whose name was Sarai and her servant whose name was Hagar. The Lord told Abram that he would be a father. His wife was old and barren and did not believe that she could personally bear the child. Her unbelief in herself prompted her to enlist the services of her handmaiden, Hagar. Hagar was indeed able to conceive but upon conception she began to look down upon her mistress. Sarai was not happy with Hagar's new attitude towards her and reprimanded her harshly. After Sarai deals with her harshly, Hagar leaves. She goes into the wilderness and ends up at a place called Shur. I looked up the word Shur and found out that Shur means "wall." This is where some people are, on the road to a brick wall. No matter how harshly Sarai treated her; she was not at liberty to just leave because Sarai was still her mistress. Some people have the mindset that if my pastor or my first lady rebukes me or if they don’t use me to the capacity that I feel I should be used at; I have the authority and the liberty to simply leave. Leaving your assigned covering makes you a bastard child. Anytime, you walk as a bastard, in the spirit of rebellion, you will always end up on the road to a brick wall.

Diligence Is Needed
By: Dr. Anya M. Hall
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”-Matthew 7:14
Thank God for technology! Tasks that used to take days, weeks and hours to perform have been reduced to minutes, moments and nano seconds. Things that took months of preparation and concentrated forethought are now done without thinking. As a result, society as a whole has become impatient, unthoughtful, callous, inconsiderate and most of all irreverent.
It is our irreverence that is so deadly for it has caused us to do away with diligence. To be irreverent is to be profane; it is the state of having no regard or respect for that which is holy, sacred and divine. Society has reflected its’ irreverence in all strata of life from entertainment to the arts to the education and governmental system. Even the church, God’s called out chosen and baptized believers, have generally become an irreverent caste. Therefore, due diligence has not been given. God's Assistance In basketball, an assist is a pass that leads to a point being scored. Without the point being made there is absolutely nothing special about the pass.
In our Christian walk, we often ask God for help. We pray that the lord would help, or assist, us to obtain peace. We pray that He would help, or assist, us with patience. But, in all honesty, it is not His help that we want. We want the Lord to do it for us. We don't want His assistance. We want Him to make it happen with no effort on our part. A pass is an opportunity. The person who receives the pass is responsible for how the opportunity is maximized. At some point in your walk with God you will have a moment were you will say, "God where are you? Why aren't you helping?" It is at these times when you should reassess the situation. Instead of complaining, which only sours your mood, began to say, "Lord show me how to maximize the opportunity that is set in front of me." When you start taking the perspective that my situation is God setting me up to score, you look at His assistance in a whole new light. So stop complaining that God is not assisting you. Start beginning to look inwardly and see if you are taking advantage of the opportunities, even those that seem bad, that He is affording you.

Follow the Bread CrumbsBy Apostle Anya M. Hall
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105
Do you remember the story of Hansel and Gretel? They were two little children led deep into a forest and left alone. Hansel, the little boy, left a trail of bread crumbs to mark the path back home. Unfortunately, the bread crumbs were eaten by the birds and so he and his sister found themselves stranded and hopelessly lost.
Many times we find ourselves lost and alone because we’ve been led by the wrong person, idea, passion, relationship etc. However, unlike Hansel and Gretel we have something that will mark the path home with certainty. The 119th psalm is an alphabetical psalm in that the first eight verses start with the first letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet, the second eight verses start with the second letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet and so forth and so on.
The Hebrew letter that starts verse 105 of Psalms 119 is N. It is the fourteenth letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet and is pronounced as “noon.” N has a numerical value of fifty, which is the number of Pentecost, jubilee and mega-grace, and is said to represent faithfulness and the reward for faithfulness.
Through and by the word of God we obtain grace and power to follow the path of righteousness. The written, spoken and living Word of God lights our steps and illuminates the way we must take. If we would but follow the Word we will find Him faithful to do just what He said. Read More...Published: February 11, 2008 By Apostle Anya Hall
"Ask J. Marie" Topic: Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence Part One
Domestic violence (sometimes referred to as domestic abuse/battering) occurs when a family member, partner, or ex-partner threatens to or actually physically, emotionally, psychologically, or economically abuses the other person.
Domestic violence (DV) can be direct physical violence, ranging from unwanted physical contact (kicking, biting, and punching) to rape (sexual violence) & murder. It can be indirect physical violence, including destruction of objects, striking or throwing objects near the victim, or harming animals.
Emotional/psychological violence involves threats of physical violence to the victim, self, or others including children. Verbal violence includes threats, insults, put downs; and non-verbal threats include gestures, facial expressions and body postures.
Lastly, DV can involve economic/social abuse. This involves controlling the victim’s money and other economic resources, preventing victim from seeing friends and relatives and isolating the victim from social contacts. Read More...Published: July 18, 2007 By Ask J. Marie
So here it is, you did it, and you know it, God knows it, a few more folks who you wish didn't, they know it too and there is no getting around the fact that you did it. Time cannot be rewound on account that you wish you had not messed up. If that were the case, than we would all be stuck in a vegetative state that would keep us handicapped by the need to be perfect. Remember what Paul said, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus ." (Philippians 3:12). This was not the scripture that I was originally going to put in but this one really spoke to me. Paul had come to realize that he could not go back and relive the life that he had lived. So instead of dwelling on the past, he said that he was going to press on so that he could lay hold of the thing that God had for him. It is time for us to start letting go of the mess we had in our past. See your testimony is a recollection of deliverance, not a remembrance of past wrong doings. Your past can either enslave you or set you free. You choose by your willingness to let go. It has been a trying year and it seems that for the past 12 months I have talked about flat out facing the issues that have bound us but the one thing that God gave me along the way was, once we face them we don't need to hold on to them. When coming face to face with these spirits that you wrestle with, it is so important that you underguard yourself with prayer and supplication so you can look at it without going back to it. After you have looked at it, after you have identified the issue, after you have dissected the specimen, you need to forgive yourself. So many times, the one thing that holds us back is forgiving ourselves. Read More...Published: July 10, 2007 By Calvin Walker
Path Way - A Monthly Column by Calvin Walker
Growing up, we are raised with the false hope that we can be whatever we want to be. Though it may seem a bit drastic to call this belief of limitless possibilities false, it is true. In Jeremiah 1:5, it says that before we were even formed in our mother's womb, God had destined us, meaning he already had a specific work for us to do. When you are not working in that specified role, you are filling someone else's role in life. Though you may be competent in that specific role, you will never walk in the spirit of excellence concerning your career, because you are walking in a place you were never intended to be. So many times we plateau or cap off and then wonder why. The simple fact is that we were not equipped to serve in that capacity. When you look at Romans 8:30, you see that the calling came with the equipment. So when you are walking in a calling that is not yours, you are not endowed with the things needed to sustain your work. When you are not fully effective in your work, you are working in vain. I have come to find that the struggles that most mature Christians deal with stems from the focus on hopes and dreams instead of purpose.

So, I was standing in Dollar General getting 2 gallons of water for my aunt, and I began to pay attention to the song that was playing on the store's loudspeaker. The old classic, "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head." I started humming and then I began to listen to the words and it really began to minister to me. No, I am not crazy! Look at the lyrics, "Raindrops keep fallin' on my head. But, that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red. Cryin's not for me! 'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'. Because I'm free. Nothin's worryin' me." As I began to look at this song, I see that this man is in a perpetual storm - it's showering. There is a continual flow of rain and it just does not seem to let up. But, he said, I will not cry because my complaining is not going to make nature stop what it is doing. And at the last line, he says something that blew my mind. He said that even though he was dealing with all this water, all this damage, all the storm clouds that he would not be fazed because he was "free."
I began to think how occupied we get with the rain that is falling, but we tend to forget the fact that we are free. We forget that we are no longer bound, that we have been given liberty and even though the other stuff in our life is not all that sunny, everyday we still have the "son!" Somebody missed that even though it is not always sunny, we still have the son, meaning because you have Him in you, you should emit light! It is time that we stop complaining and belly aching about the raindrops that keep on falling. Instead, focus on the fact that we are free! And if we are free, what are we to worry about? God has us covered! He said so in his word. This is short, but I felt it is something that the body needed right now! Raindrops keep falling because God wants you to keep growing. For every time you feel a rain drop, you should thank God for the harvest that will grow because of what just hit you. Published: February 5, 2007 By Calvin Walker
It is sad to say, but it is human nature to defer fault, ever since Adam got in trouble in Genesis 3:12 and blamed his disobedience on his wife, that has perpetuated a curse. As of late, it seems that everybody has a good reason for doing something they should not. But strangely enough, there is such a universal desire to go to a new level in Christ, but God can't trust you with it because you don't trust him. Check this out! Excuses can only exist after breaking a set of rules that have been previously laid down. When you disobey someone, usually either it means that others have misled you, so you regard their opinion higher than the person who gave you the rules; or you think that something that the rule states lacks validity. At any rate, you display a lack of trust through your actions. If you do not fully trust God, how can you expect to mature in Him? It is my belief that maturation is the key to manifestation. Simply put, once you grow in God, He can release certain things to you. Right now, a lot of us are deadlocked because we cannot own up to our faults, so God cannot let us posses our future. Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me." Some of us are believing for manly blessings while harboring childish tendencies. By you steadily making excuses, you are attempting to portray yourself as perfect and it is common knowledge that there is only one perfect person who has ever walked this earth, Jesus! See, without confession you can never really experience true redemption, unless you say what you have done, how can God forgive you? Because we are in a time that men have become deceivers of themselves, no one is quick to claim wrongdoings because no one thinks that anything they do is wrong. No More Resolutions!
We need an Injection of Spiritual Health and Fitness Back into this Country. Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1,2 As we approach the New Year let's take a different attitude towards how we look at Health and Fitness in this Country.
Did you know that over 60% of the Americans in this country are considered overweight and unfit and that over 50% of our children suffer from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and can not even pass the President's Physical Fitness Test. Black Men are nearly twice as likely to die from cancer as the general population, black babies are twice as likely as white babies to die before their first birthday. The rate of Aids among blacks is more than triple that among whites, and over sixty percent of African American women over the age of 40 are considered obese?
